PHŌS CHURCH exists to reflect the light of the knowledge of God’s glory displayed in the face of Christ. So that those who were not told about Him will see and those who have not heard will understand

When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.””- John 8:12.

At PHŌS CHURCH our prayerful desire is to be a collection of light bearers who reflect and bear witness to both the beauty and truth of the Light of Life.

In Matthew 5:14-16 Jesus said:

“You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.”

Much of the world is unaware of the darkness that surrounds us all everyday. That is because darkness masquerades itself as light (2 Corinthians 11:14). This “light” appears right, it looks true. But instead of giving true light for us to see, it veils our vision, leading us along a destructive path filled with pitfalls and traps that are meant to wound, distract and deceive us.

We, as a church, are burdened to share His light with those who are unaware of His help. Too few understand where they are, too few know where they are going and too many feel alone and lost. Our aim at PHŌS CHURCH then, by the power and work of the Spirit, is for people to see the light and believe in the light. Jesus is the source and measure of all that is true. Jesus is life. That life is the light of all mankind and the darkness has not and will not overcome it (John 1:4-5).

In John 1:6-9, we read that “There was a man sent from God whose name was John. He came as a witness to testify concerning that light, so that through him all might believe. He himself was not the light; he came only as a witness to the light. The true light that gives light to everyone was coming into the world.”

Lord would You embolden us to bear witness to Your light, reflecting the radiance of Your glory. Would Your Name be hallowed and Your will be done in Downtown Los Angeles as it is in Heaven. Would You open the eyes of the people You have called us to reach so that they may receive forgiveness of sins and a place among those who are sanctified by faith in You (Acts 26:16-18). In Jesus Name, Amen.

“For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Live as children of light”

— Ephesians 5:8
